Project for the triptych Monument aux morts de Cahors. These three monumental canvases (385 x 280 cm each), presenting a panorama of the city, were intended to occupy the three arcades of Cahors Town Hall.
They were never installed, however, the very idea of a pictorial rather than sculptural war memorial having provoked considerable controversy. Deprived of their original function, the works first adorned the town council chamber, before joining the museum in 1970.
